1995, 1999

The song for 1995 is Jesus Freak, by DC Talk.  I feel like this song should be the song for most of the 90's because it was some sort of strange anthem for my youth (which may sound strange, but at least it wasn't something vile like Baby Got Back).  I can still to this day sing this entire song by heart, and I can rap the bridge quite impeccably!

For 1999, I chose Chase the Sun, by The O.C. Supertones.  My brother and I were obsessed with this song, along with our best friends at the time, who happened to be be brother and sister also.  We may or may not have made a music video in their basement.  And made up a few epic dance moves.

1991 FTW

The song for 1991 will be....
drum roll....
....
....
Good Vibrations by Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch.

And honestly I just had to throw Mark Wahlberg in there, for good measure... since he's sort of like God.

My friends and I fell in love with this scottish dream when they opened for Mute Math in 2007.  This song is fantastic.

1989, 1990

So far I have the first two songs for the CD I mentioned in my last post.
For 1989, I chose Love Song by The Cure and for 1990 I have Enjoy the Silence by Depeche Mode.  These aren't final choices, for the record.  These are just potential choices for each year.  I have until March 6th to perfect the playlist.

22 years, 22 songs

My friend's 22nd birthday is coming up in March and since he's a musician/music junkie/music addict, (OK, so maybe that last one took it too far) I want to make him a CD.  We were born in 1989, so, beginning in said year, I am going to post a song for each year that I love, and explain why I like it.  For some songs I might just provide anecdotes that remind me of the song, and for some years I might have to explain that I don't actually like the song, but it reminded me of that year, etc.  I think it will be a fun side project (yeah, you know, to work on in all of that spare time I have between school and work and interviews for projects and having a social life) and it will provide a little bit of background on me as a person, since our friendship is still pretty fresh.  Not to mention still untitled. Friends, more than friends, who the hell knows.  Either way,  this CD is going to be fantastic and I think it will make a good birthday present.

C'est La Vie

I have been a tumblr purist for quite some time now, but I have decided to graduate to a grown up blog!

As an aspiring journalist this is going to be a blog where I write, rather than post photos of things I like or admire.
I haven't quite come up with a working theme for this blog, so I won't post anything else until I do, but I needed to write something so I could see how my template looks (it's all about the presentation, when it comes to hooking in the reader).
